The beginning of Mojo Running Co came about during the summer of 2022 in Robe, South Australia, when I was training for my first marathon, the Robe Run hosted by Adelaide Trail Runners. Training five days a week for over 18 weeks truly made me realize how much I love running. Whether I was training in Melbourne or Robe, on sand or bitumen, the journey towards my first marathon was a steep learning curve into the intense world of running. The constant mental and physical challenge of completing five runs a week was overwhelming at times. However, as the weeks went by, I began to see progress. I achieved new personal bests in the 5k and 21.1k distances, and most weeks I surpassed my previous longest run. These achievements built confidence in my ability to complete the marathon.
In the days and weeks leading up to the marathon, I faced mental challenges as I worried about the possibility of getting injured or sick during the taper towards race day. However, with the support of my friends and family who were coming to cheer me on, I quickly reassured myself that I was ready. Finally, at 10:34 am, I completed the marathon in 3 hours and 34 minutes. I was overwhelmed with pride and happiness for persevering through my training plan and on race day.
While Mojo Running Co was initially inspired by my short-lived DJ career, it now represents the dedication, mental fortitude, and progress I witnessed within myself over a few months. It is a journey I want to share with others through my own experiences, races, and training. My hope is to inspire others to pursue their own running goals, regardless of the result, time, distance, or background. I aim to support and reward the reliable individuals, not just the remarkable ones.
